E6600 to Q9650 reload OS?

Going from dual to quad do I need to reload my Os? TIA

Assuming that it installed the first time with the ACPI Multiprocessor HAL, then you should be able to just install the chip. You might have to open MSCONFIG and tell it you have 4 CPUs, if they don't all show up in Task Manager after you install the chip.

The P5N32E-SLI Plus is a 650i motherboard and will not likely support the Q9650. I cannot find the Q9650 on any CPU compatibility lists for your board, either.

It would be cheaper for you to upgrade to lynnfield than to throw down on a Q9650+G41/P45 system, especially after you sell your stuff.
