E6600 Temps

Hello, I am wondering how much heat my processor can take before I should get worried. Its currently running at 0:52c 1:55c idle, and both cores topping out at 70c on full load. I'm going to look for another case fan to add, and possible a second fan for my HSF to see if I can get the temps down. I need this processor to last me for at least a year before I am going to upgrade to a quad core, and a SLI motherboard and add a second 9800. Will it theoretically last that long under these load temps?

C2D E6600 stock: 2.4 oc:3.2
Asus P5K SE/EPU
2x2GB OCZ Platinum 1000
EVGA 8800GT(Soon:9800GTX XFX)
 
Sounds like you don't have your CPU cooler quite properly attached -- high idle temps are a key sign of this. Are you using a 4-push-pin cooler? If so, remember that you need to attach it with the MB OUT of the case; otherwise, the pins often don't have enough room between the MB and case wall to get fully seated. No, I'm using a Raidmax Glacier cooler, and I have already reseated the CPU and the HSF. Thanks for the response.
 
I added a case fan blowing over the RAM and CPU sitting right under the disk drive, and it lowered my idle temps to 0:48c and 1:52C That seems a bit more reasonable, and I also swapped out the 8800 for a new XFX 9800GTX Black Edition! I'm going to try to find another case fan to put somewhere else in the case to see if I can get those temps down a bit more.

EDIT: Testing load temps right now, and the results are about the same ratio better! 0:62 1:63
 
How many volts are you pushing thru your e6600? I think you *might* have a tad too much voltage, or if your room temperature is really hot then i guess that explains the high idle temps. Regardless, your e6600 will last you over a year, just keep the load temps around 60c and you ll be fine.
 
Okay, thanks for the infos. I have it set to 1.4v in the bios, but I'll see if I can get it stable at something lower. Also, can someone explain to me vDroop?
