I dont wish to run my CPU at full load all the time but I noticed running CPU z I was running at 1600 Mhz...I went into the bios and changed from 266 FSB to 33 FSB ( for my OC)

It still wont Budge. Unless I disable speed step :-(

Please help, until I get this fixed I will not buying a Q6600

:-(

The core speed shouldn't go up unless there is a load on the core. Run CPU-z and something which loads the core and watch the clock, it should jump to ~2997 MHz

Power options are set to performance, ran prime 95 but it wont budge ! have go back to an old bios to see if that makes the difference...

Just what you need after your ESX server died at work !

Odd... you could always try the new bios with the Q6600 and downgrade again if it doesn't work with it... is there any benefit to running the newer bios (reading through the manufacturers updates?)

Yesterday I did a bios update for the Q6600 when it comes, today I was playing battlefield 2 and noticed some lag, so I checked CPU Z and id defaulted back to 266 FSB and a 6x multiplier , I went back to the old bios just now and went back to 333 FSB and its back to 9x times...

Its like an file ! I will post on the asus forum and see whats what/

No prob... if the newer bios doesn't bring fix bugs which are giving you problems or enable extra features you may forget about it for the time being...

PS. Good luck with the Q6600. It should give you plenty of fun :D
