E6600 Preparation

I just received my E6600 and am preparing for installation once the motherboard arrives later this week. I would like to use the stock HSF that came with it to see how it does before looking to upgrade it. However, in checking it over, I noticed that the fan has 3 small gray stripes of material where it would make contact with the processor. I am assuming this is some type of conductor material to help in cooling. I have some Arctic Silver I would like to use instead, so could someone please advise the best way to remove this material prior to installation. I am not sure that alcohol will remove it. Advice from anyone who has seen this on their processor is greatly appreciated! In addition, has anyone used the stock HSF with the E6600? If not, what would you recommend as a good replacement? I am looking to overclock some.

Thanks in advance!

Wipe it off with a tissue, clean the copper area on the bottom of the HSF with some isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Done
