E6600 overclocking guidlines

Just got an e6600. If I want to keep the computer 2-3 years, what are the maximum voltages and temps I should use?
Currently running at stock volts, 40 under a load, (not super intensive program, but uses 100% of both cores), and 7% overclock. What to know I should leave the settings at, should be able to go 1.35 and 3.2 ghz I'm thinking? Maybe temps under 55?

1.5v, keep it under 70C and you'll be fine.

That sounds pretty generous... Maybe I'll do 1.45, I want to use it 12 hours/day normally, sometimes 24 for 2-3 years and not have trouble by the end. How do people know what to say? Are there tests?

as a general rule of thumb, if you don't need the extra voltage, don't use it. I can remember people that would set the voltage higher and would burn out there cpus over time. (you would have to do a forum search for it). Anyways the lowest voltage possible is the best. Find out what you can run stably and stay away from the limit as far as possible.

What is the average or a normal overclock on stock voltage for the e6600. Is 20% reasonable?

Mine is running at 3.6ghz @ 1.39V giving a 42 degree idle temp and around 55 under load

Have my E6600 running at 3.0 ghz on stock voltage here.

Since I'm using stock cooling I wouldn't dream of pumping the volts up, it's already running pretty warm in the high 70's at full-load Orthos Blend.

If you want to stay on the really safe side, figure out where it is stable on stock voltage, and keep the temps in the fifties under orthos blend load.

It will vary from system to system. My E6400 (2.13) runs at 3.2 on stock voltage, and temps are mid to high forties with orthos load. This is with an upgraded, but cheap air cooling system (Freezer 7 pro)

Edit: use intel TAT or coretemp to measure temps.

mbeleni: High 70s sounds a bit high for my liking. Have you tried reapplying the thermal paste and reseating the heatsink?
