I can only get 2.5Ghz at stock voltage
I raised to 1.375 and couldnt even get booted to 2.9Ghz

Am I doing something wrong or does this processor just blow?

I was getting 3.25 no problem on stock voltage. The idle temps were great but when I tested them on orthos, they cranked up to 60c quite quickly. I waited till I got my aftermarket cooler to push any further. What are your system specs? People will be more likely to respond if they have some info to respond on. I was lucky, I could just raise the fsb to get my oc. Perhaps you need to tweak the system a little bit.

what stepping/code do you have? it's on the Box/IHS (L632AXXX) is an example. Not the SL9T9 code). If it's F and not A (in the example) or B, it is known that that code has had some problems OCing. But, as with Mashed Potato, what are your system specs and BIOS settings?

just posted my specs here

p5w dh
6600
mushkin 8500
8800 gtx

the only things i changed when oc'ing stock were the fsb first, then the ram timings.

I couldnt move the fsb higher than 365 without doing anything else.

Here is what I have

L641A736 (E6600)
Bad Axe2 latest BIOS
2Gigs Buffallo Firestiks

This is my first time building a PC and never OC before either so maybe Im doing something wrong.
I have a Seasonic 600W PS so that should be a stable power source. Im only running a stock EVGA 7600GT , two Seagate 7200.10 HHD and one DVD optical...I dont think that would draw that much power.

Ive been keeping an eye on the temps...ide around 43C and while I havent checked uder exteme load I have tried one instance of super pi and temps go to 45C max.

I dont really understand the FSB to MEM ratio. There is a lot I dont understand actually and am trying to read and figure it out without burning something up.

I have a Tuniq Tower 120, Asus Commando motherboard, an E6600 and 2 gigs of G.Skill DDR1000 memory (rated at 4-4-4-5 @2.2 V) and I cannot overclock very well either. I too am wondering if I got a crap E6600. My stepping is L640A820. I couldn't even hit 3.0GHz without rasing the vcore. Right now I have to run a vcore of 1.5 (1.45 according to speedfan, probably due to vdroop) just to maintain stability in orthos at a 3.2GHz. Something is just not right...

Looks like Intel is binning more agressively now.
Im only getting 100Mhz more out of this chip at stock voltage...that just sucks
