Hey guys,

I'm planning to buy a new Core 2 Duo system, with an E6600 processor. I'm not looking to overclock... perhaps further down the track I will, but for now I need a system that will be as fast as possible out of the box.

It seems a lot of people are suggesting the P5W DH but it does seem to have a few features I won't need... any suggestions for alternatives that could be a bit cheaper? Or reasons that I should just pay the extra money?

Hassle-free and reliable are my most important considerations, I also need firewire (or do all boards have it these days?). The dual gigabit lan is useful, but I don't need wi-fi.

Thanks guys

Basically any board that supports C2D will be fine for you. With no overclocking each board is within about 3% of eachother.

Thanks... I thought that might be the answer. Is the P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe a good motherboard? Its feature set seems close to what I need.

If you want something reasonable and possibly overclock later on maybe look into the Gigabyte DS3? Its a cheaper Conroe mobo than the P5W DH and its a good overclocker but doesnt have all the extra features and higher price of the P5W DH. I heard the P5N32 isnt a good overclocker but not sure if thats true or not.
