E6600 intel cooler better than E2xxx?

I still have the cooler that came with my E6600. Building a system for a friend in the near future with an E2xxx CPU. Just wondering if the cooler that came with my chip would aid in keeping the E2xxx cooler, helping OC properly, or if there would be no significant difference.

The cooler that comes with the E6x00's is better than the one that comes with the E2xoo's, if that helps you make a decision.

Couldn't hurt to try. If I'm not mistaken, attempts at overclocking the E2xxx on its own stock cooler have been pretty successful too.

The E2XXX heatsink is half the height of the E6600 cooler, but is otherwise similar. I believe they have the same fan. Either one will be fine without a voltage bump (especially if you duct cool outside air to the fan) to 3 ghz. Neither one is going to be a good idea post voltage bump.

The "new" E2xxx heatsinks are 1/2-height as v8 writes; the earlier ones were full-height. You'll have to see what you get in your package.

I think so. I've had the thing for a year.

Good to know I won't need to get her an aftermarket cooler, then.
