E6600 + eVGA 680i + OCZ?

I am trying to overclock my system however I seem so far unable to get stability with any sort of boost.

Currently I have the stock HSF that the CPU came with. My RAM is OCZ PC2-6400 with 5-5-5-15 timings. Im thinking its mostly the ram that is causing my problems. Anybody got any tips

Thinking about upgrading to some corsair XMS2 4-4-4-12.

Oh and I tried boosting both the FSB and Core voltages with no real gain other than a higher temperature.

well, the stock HSF is not really that great. I would suggest a Thermalright Ultra 120 Plus or a Tuniq Tower.
That may be one problem.
But the RAM should be fine up to 400 MHz FSB (a 3.2-3.6GHz OC). You can manually set the timings tighter too but it is probably not advisable if you are having problems with stability.
To test if it is the memory causing stability problems, DL memtest (search the forums).
You should be able to get up to 3.2GHz on stock voltage fine, but it can be your chip. If you have an F-code chip (L32XFXXX), then you might have a chip that can't OC too well.
You should be able to easily get:
400*8 (3.2 GHz) at stock voltage to 1.4v
Ram (at stock voltage. you may have to set the voltage) at DDR2 800 PC2 6400 w/ 5-5-5-15.
Other than some vague advice, i can't really help you.

Disable C1E, Speedstep and Thermal Control.

Disable anything Throttle or Spectrum related.

Set you RAM and CPU FSB to unlinked.

Set your FSB to 1400 and your RAM to 700mhz (yes, underclock)

Set your RAM to the advertised timings and voltage.

Set your FSB Voltage to 1.3V (or 1.4V later on)

Set your CPU Voltage to 1.35V

See how that goes. If it doesn't work, try 1.375V on the CPU.

And get a good Cooler will you.... Thermalright Ultra 120 or Tuniq Tower 120 are the best out there!
