E6600 and Gigabyte DS3 requires 24 pin?

I'm trying to figure out what kind of power supply I need to get. Does the Gigabyte DS3 require a 24 pin power supply, or a 20+4 pin supply? I'm confused.

Thanks for the help. 😀

yes, it is god awful slow. I was trying to check out the new Aurora 570 case on their site - took forever!

Get a OCZ GameXStream. Or even a Powerstream 520, Fortron 600 watt.. Something with rock solid rails.
Don't skimp on the PSU at all. Stay away from Modular's too.

Is modular PSU bad? I ordered an Ultra X2 550 watt for my conroe E6600, thinking in buying the Gigabyte DS3 with a cheap PCI Express Video card ill be using a raptor 10k RPM sata HD and a Barracuda 320gb sata HD. Will i have trouble with this PSU?

The S3 manual allows for a 20 or 24 pin power supply, my guess is that it would be the same on the DS3.

ohh the Ultra PSU seems to run fine for my system, i wouldnt worry too much about it. Maybe upgrade down the road like I will once I have the money too.

on a side note, make sure you get upto the latest Bios for the board, F5 right now, solves many problems when dealing with video and ram... or at least it did for me.

The F4 bios is the latest version for the S3; the F5 is for the DS3. As far as I can tell, they are basically the same things, but DON'T TRY FLASHING THE OPPOSITE BOARDS BIOS EVER!!!!

I am using a DS3 with a 20-pin Enermax 470w psu and all is fine - oclockn too. You can if you want get a 20 to 24 converter very cheap.
