E6600 and 7900GT - why am i struggling on 3Dmark05?

I have a pretty nice new system, but 3Dmark is telling me that I am in the bottom 5% of computers with my config. I havn't changed any settings except that I let my 9700 overclock itself with its utility to 513Mhz. Are these numbers good or am I missing something?
 
8600~8700 sounds about right, what are your current clocks on your 7900GT? you'll get a higher score from a higher OC on your GPU rather than your CPU.
 
i just sent my GPU clock to 578 and got 9931 but it says 64 other computers are getting way higher... in the 18K range.
 
I don't exactly think that your scores are that low. With a 7900GT you can't ask for more, a 1900xtx can dish out 11-14k I guess.

a nicely OC'd 7900GT will easily score 11K~12k+, i've seen some score well over 13k on 3Dmark05...i scored 11400+ on my 7900GT OC'd to 640/1800
