Are the e6600's still going to be around after july 22 or be switched out for the e6750? If not, what will the new price be?

q6600 will be 266$, the e6600 wil be like 165$ ish or so, no ? And I think that they are being phased out for the e6750, but don't qoute me on that.

It's likely e6000 will be around for a while after July 22 at $160 until stocks are depleted. INTC won't be producing anymore after then, and will be moving to faster FSB'd e6750.

They aren't receiving any official price drops so the E6600 might remain at $224. It will be up to the retailers if they want to deviate from Intel's MSRP.

I would think the e6700 would be phased out as well. Not sure about the x6800 though, unless there is a new extreme edition dual core.

the retailers will have to lower the price to compete with the $183 e6750 at 2.66 ghz and $163 e6550 at 2.33 ghz. Yes that higher multiplier is nice, but most people are going to look at the clock speed when making a purchasing decision. e6600 is 2.4 ghz so $170 would probably be a reasonable price for it.

Reviews I've seen E6700 and E6750 performed almost identical.
If E6600 remains at $224 or whatever, I am getting E6750 for $183 for sure.

Do they? Only 1333FSB officially support the new processors and for the most part that means you have P35, so people on older motherboards, such as most versions of 965 would be stuck and probably be forced to pay the higher amount for the older variants unless you want to overclock.

Yeah the same thing that would happen to the E6600 no price drops and remain at it's current MSRP, I think X6800 has already been discontinued since the QX6800 was released, Intel doesn't keep that many XE's officially around.

If your in the know it wouldn't be a wise financial decision to buy the X6800.

The E6600 is going to be phased out but Intel has made a boat load or two of them so its going to take time for the supply to run out. You'll still find them readily availble after July 22nd. At what price is hard to say. I think a price drop will happen but not sure by how much.

After July 22nd the only E6000 series dual cores will the E6550, E65540, E6570 and the E6580. Everything will be phased out, leaving only the E4000 series below that.

I'm personally waiting for the e6600/e6700 to drop down in price a few bucks since I'd like that higher multiplier for overclocking purposes.

And there's no price drop reflected for them on 07/22.

Intel recently added some server parts to the 7/22 drop, which I did not detail in that link.

That was known I believe, the X3220 which is essentially the Q6600 will be falling to the same price as Q6600 will be $266.

X3210 will drop to $224 which doesn't have a analogus part in rhe mainstream but makes sense as it has to be cheaper then Q6600.

OH MY GOD!

I am all over that Xeon X3220 if it's the same price as the Q6600, this could be just like the Opteron craze all over again.

same with me... everything is bought... just waiting for the products to come out

btw depending on just how much the current e6000 series will be drop down to,
what would be the best e6000 series to get for under $200?
