E6420 or 5600+

Looking to help a friend buy a Dell. I would build him a computer but he is interested in the added security of the warranty. The computer is for his young kids. Basic internet, some gaming (nothing big), office, etc. No overclocking either.

With the current pricing he can get a decent dell for 1300-1400 dollars with a 20 inch ultrasharp included. 3 year warranty.

Any idea what would be the best processor for this? The Intel is 100 dollars cheaper then the AMD.
 
for his kids ? save him the money, go intel. Especially if the only difference is the cpu, because the e6420 can keep up with the 5600+ most of the time ...
 
If the AMD was $100 cheaper, i'd say go for it, but since the Intel is cheaper, go for that. 😉
