What, if any benifits other than cache and overclockability, would one gain from getting a 6600 instead of a 6400 or vice versa?

Umm... as far as I can tell, those are the major benefits.

The E6600 has the 4MB of L2 cache as opposed to the 2MB for the E6400; they both appear to be brilliant overclockers.

I believe the e6600 has a higher multi and that they both share the same FSB. Could be wrong though.

the E6600 has 4MB cache which helps but it's also higher priced look at the new review on anandtech comparing the lower core 2 duo processors

I think the sweetspot in for conroe is the E6600 just because it has 4MB cache and overclocks nicely along with the rest of the core 2 duo processors.
