I have been able to run my E6400 stable with Orthos24 for some time so that seems to be running great at 3.2Ghz.

My System is

E6400
2GB G.Skill PC2-6400/DDR2 800 at 5-5-5-15
Asus P5B Deluxe
520w OCZ Powerstream
74.5GB Raptor
300GB Maxtor
1900XT 512Mb HIS

The problem is Orthos24 runs stable when i do the CPU stress test, but my RAM doesnt run at all well, well it lasts a few minutes before getting a hardware error.

My OC is now at

E6400 2.13Ghz @ 3.20Ghz
2Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 at 5-5-5-15 so thats DDR2-800

Multiplier is set at 8x
FSB 400
vCore 1.4v

Any other info needed?

Well i just need help in getting my RAM to run at my CPU Ghz if there is any help, unless i will have to bring it down some to get it to work. The wierd thing is at the moment my BIOS right at the start reads my RAM at PC 4300 at the moment for some reason, is that good or bad, or is that normal?

Cheers for all your help.

You need to probably increase Nb and SB voltages and your memory try at 2.1v

I had to do this.

Ahh

I was hoping you would reply, as i saw you had a lot of experiences with the same CPU and Motherboard.

My Memory is currently at 2.1v and my Motherboard NB is at 1.45v and SB is at 1.5v

Is that ok, as its still only getting through around 5 minutes on Orthos24.

In fact i changed the timings also to 4-4-4-12 and it actually lasted a bit longer. I suppose i should relax those timings back to 5-5-5-15 again?

It depends on what memory you have exactly. They use different ICs. If it's G.Skill HZ then it uses D9 and you can run up to 2.3v without a fan and over 2.3v add a fan and run really high frequency with good timings. If it's not the HZ it may be Promos or aneon, infenion etc. Anyway if 4-4-4-12 isn't stable try 5-5-5-15 and see what happens.

I'm not sure what voltage you need. I maxed them out (except CPU and memory) and I left it.

You may also try moving the FSb to 401Mhz because that moves you to the 1333 strap and loosens the timings a bit. At 400Mhz you're on 1066 strap and has lower latency and tighter timings. generally 400Mhz FSb is more performance than 401Mhz, but not always more stable.

I have these

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400
GSkill F2-6400PHU2-2GBNR

Should i try even more relaxed timings?

Ill try the things youve said and a few others, ill get back asap

Well ive got it working stable so that Orthos does just over an hour stable at 3.2Ghz and DDR802 at timings 5-5-5-15, voltage on the ram is 1.8.

Is that long enough for it to be working for good, or should i try to get it to run longer?

That's ok. Since no game or app will stress the memory as much as Orthos or memtest.

But one hour isn't long enough to get into the HardForum C2D 4+ hrs. stable database :p

Ahh not really bothered, im not one for benchmarking and posting results everywhere, i like playing games, and i knew that i could get a cheap beast of a CPU so i thought OC!

Now i have to admit, running from 2.13ghz to 3.2ghz Flight Simulator X has gotten a hell of a lot smoother, tho it still need Vista i think.

And also all my games a noticeably smoother as my min FPS has risen i think.

Don't matter...the point is. If you play the games you play and you never crash or anything. That's good enough. Run 3dMark06 a few times...no crash? You're fine. This is how I do it.

I run orthos SmattFFT for CPU, then HCI memtest for memory. Then games. If games pass it's clean.
