I finally upgraded my OS from XP to vista (enterprise version), but after upgrade OS, I am stuck at the lower CPU multiplier of intel Core 2 Duo e6300 (x6 instead of x7).
The motherboard I am using is gigabyte 965p-ds3, with firmware f10, I set the multiplier to x7 in bios, and I can see from the POST message that the x7 is effective, but as soon as I enter vista, I only see x6 (checked from cpu-z, also that is what the vista reported in control panel).
so then I installed gigabyte easytune, what is interesting here is now when I set the new FSB, the multiplier setting says x7, and the calculation is done using x7, but as soon as I hit "Go" button, the actual effective CPU clock is using x6..
where else I can check to fix this weird problem? right now I have to set the FSB to very high number, I am afraid this will generate too much heat from the MB chips... can anyone throw some ideas, thanks in advance!
