I picked it up at Renton, WA. Indeed it's a retail box. Otherwise I would have skipped the deal.

Got a decent chip with R0 stepping. Like all other R0 chips, only one core was working at idle. Other is stuck at 40C until core temp exceed 42C. At 52C load, both cores were showing the same temp.

Orthos stable @ 4.03GHz with 1.37Vcore in BIOS. Another minor bump to 1.39V yields 4.09GHz. Subtract 40mV for actual load voltage in CPUz. IP35-E's VTT, VNB, VSB, and GTLref at default. The CPU is still gaining ~55MHz core speed for each 20mV increase in CPU core voltage (linear range). No need to pump more heat into this guy. 1M Super Pi in 13.343 seconds. Maximum Othos temp of 53C with 74F ambient.

I am debating this over the Phenom X3 720 combo for $160. I don't know if the performance is worth the cash. It's to replace an aging dual Opteron 242 setup, so either should be at least a little better.
