Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L motherboard, new E5200 ( 12.5 x 200 = 2.5GHz, 800 FSB ), DDR2-800 memory
Just looking at my options for overclocking, my motherboard seems to have suspiciously few memory divider settings. After the Ctrl+F1 unlock in the BIOS I have the option to select a memory multiplier of 2.66, 3.33, or 4.0. Stock would be 200FSB x 4. My other options to keep the memory at 800MHz are therefore 3.33 x 240FSB or 2.66 * 300FSB
This doesn't seem to add up to me. The motherboard supports CPUs officially up to 1333, i.e. 333MHz FSB. With those memory multipliers, 333x2.66 (the lowest available multiplier) would give a minimum memory speed of 886MHz. . . so there must be other memory dividers. I just can't get at them.
I've had a good poke around but can't find anything. Only other memory settings seem to be to tweak latencies. I can work around the limited dividers. . . it is only a cheap board really, but something tells me there should be more options.
