It's a cold rainy day today so I decided to play around with the systems again :)

I had purchased a Cooler Master V8 on the Newegg black friday sale to use with my 4ghz Q9550 combo but decided to go water cooled instead.

I figured I had this huge cooler just waiting to be stressed by a cpu so I decided to pair it up with my e5200 to finish up my testing I started earlier and couldn't finish because of my crappy cooler I had at the time.

I know alot of people say the V8 sucks but it gives the e5200 the smackdown pretty damn good evem with the fan set to the lowest setting :)

The final results are in on this chip as the vcore is getting too high for me and a fsb wall on the chip I believe of 344

The results

4.25ghz (340x12.5)
vcore in bios 1.412 in OCCT at idle 1.39 and loaded 1.38
cpu termination 1.40v
cpu ref .882v
C1E enabled
CPU Thermal monitor 2 enabled
CPU EIST enabled
DDR-2 800 running at 907mhz @ 5-5-5-18 turbo mode

The chip is Intel Burn Test stable
The chip is OCCT default 1hr test stable
The chip is OCCT small and large data set stable

Gotta do the prime stability test but it's just so boring to watch :)

The temps with the fan on low with the help of the cases 120mm rear exhaust fan that is about 3/4 inch from the V8 and almost lines up perfectly are as follows

35*c on both cores at idle....Mine will not read below this so it's unkown
low 70's during Intel Burn Test which pumps alot of heat
low to mid 60's during OCCT stress testing

This combo is currently up for trade in the forsale/trade forum http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2033404

Meh, forget Prime95 now. IBT is much better at everything it did. I can pass 24h prime and IBT will find problems in 2 minutes, but I've never had Prime find anything that IBT didn't

And congrats on the 4.25. I've gotten my up to 4GHz @ 1.4 but backed off because temps on my Dark Knight were too high.

Do you have a link of where to download this IBT ? the only thing I see is an internet test named that.

Thanks and I'm not surprised. I'm hoping Gigabyte has an H55 board for my Clarkdale build early next year.

I'm sure they'll have a couple to choose from at launch or within a month or so. When and if I go i3,i5,i7,i9 I'll be looking at the Gigabyte boards also :)

The GIGABYTE GA-G41M-ES2L is a nice little stable board.Great for overclocking the low fsb chips such as the e5200's....Not so great for overclocking a chip that has a 1333fsb as the fsb craps out around 1500 or so if I remember correctly....But will run a quad perfectly fine at stock speed.

Nice! I only got 3.8GHz on mine on an old ABIT IB9 (yes, P965  )

I have another e5200 that I tried and it crapped out at 3.83ghz when I tested it out on this same board....Not like it's not a nice free speed boost :)

I guess this chip is one of those 1 in a 1000 chips or maybe needs another 0 or two on the end of it. It's pretty versatile and not only overclocks well it also undervolts and overclocks nicely.

These are the results from my 1st run of testing that I had stopped due to the massive heat these little chips like to produce....Temps with old crappy cooler.

2.00ghz (333x6) bios vcore .884 OCCT vcore .86 Temps 35*c idle 37* loaded
2.33ghz (333x7) bios vcore .900 OCCT vcore .88 Temps 35*c idle 38* loaded
2.66ghz (333x8) bios vcore .948 OCCT vcore .93 Temps 35*c idle 42* loaded

3.00ghz (333x9) bios vcore 1.028 OCCT vcore 1.01 Temps 35*c idle 44* loaded
3.33ghz (333x10) bios vcore 1.108 OCCT vcore 1.07 Temps 35*c idle 50* loaded
3.66ghz (333x11) bios vcore 1.188 OCCT vcore 1.15 Temps 35*c idle 60* loaded
4.00ghz (333x12) bios vcore 1.300 OCCT vcore 1.27 Temps 35*c idle 72* loaded

Guess I'll have to save the profile in bios and back her down to compare the temps to my first test.

I wonder at what point the load temp moves beyond the idle temps....I'm guessing around the 3.66ghz mark ???

It was fun to see what the chip would do....But decided to offer it up for trade to complete my Q9550 build

Haha, somone else is a cheapskate like me XD
Seriously though, I'm impressed that such an old mobo supports the 45nm Core2s and from a now defunct manufacturer at that.
