Less vague? The M3 needs to in the high(er) RPM range to really work it's magic.

You are not a E46 M3 owner though, so as a result clueless; but I am sure you probably were in one with 9 others up and down some mountain road.

Wait, I think I'm on to what you're on about. You want a car that makes more power lower in the rev range...kind of like a tractor. There should be any number of cars available in the next 1 to 3,000 months that will suit your needs.

Now you are trolling totally.

excellent troll, sis.

My prediction on his [alkemyst] response, which I had to PM so as not to muddy the results is one of or a combination of:

1) Attack on you, possibly calling into question your manhood but more likely your financial situation
2) Excessively detailed response explaining the delay and how it pertains to his work schedule (probably including certifications). This response must contain far more irrelevant details than one would possibly care about to qualify.

Bonus points are awarded if you are called emo, brah, or son.

Great! An insult to your manhood! I only need him to complain about how being wealthy makes life difficult to win alkemyst bingo!

His trollbot programming has only a few insults he can pull from, so you're always going to see the same kind of response.

Would you like him to be more less or less more vague? Possible choices are:

AA
AB
BA
BB
C
X

Pretty much.

Not really. Since I am targeting performance cars $40k-65k there is only so many that meet 4 usable seats and possibly 4 doors.

Most here are lucky to be able to afford a car 1/4-1/5 that so have no clue at all and are simply pissed of the financial mess the live in.

Data point for maintenance - just spent ~1300 for valve adjustment, vanos bolts, engine/trans/diff fluid, brake flush with CDV delete and rear diff cover/drive shaft seal. Essentially inspection 2 with extra stuff on top of it.

Hey halik...how bad were the VANOS bolts...did they let you see them or tell you if they had started the shear? If so...how bad and how many miles do you have on your car. I've heard a few horror stories of all the vanos bolts shearing and causing some major engine problems. Not sure if it something I want to look into doing soon.

Based on Castiel...uh, his response, I take it that that is his current car? Fits pretty much exactly what I'd picture in my mind for him.

How hard is it to KNOW WHAT YOU WANT and then just BUY IT?

That is not my car, the hard part of just buying what I want is one of my choices hasn't been released yet. Not to mention I haven't had the time, next six weeks is travel.

I can't believe I am sticking up for Alkemyst, but this thread itself doesn't seem to justify all the hatred posted in it - he asked a legitimate question and has gotten very few legitimate answers. That being said, I guess you have to reap what you sow, and there's no doubt this all results from his decade of trolling, so . . .

Don't worry about me, chief, though it's much newer and much faster than your Fast & Furious-inspired ricecapade (http://driftkat.com/98SEmine.php), which is about as fast at the lights as a minivan. No need to be jealous though, boss--some people just talk about buying cars and others actually buy them.

So, for example like a 1998 240SX.

Alky is asking for input and information not crap and taunting do this in OT not here...! This is not the place for it so if you dont have anything worth posting then dont post it...

Thank you to those that have posted information that is relevant...

Please share with us....I want to see if you are even qualified to participate in this discussion since you never owned a E46 M3, but I am curious on how you derived your opinions.

As far as actually buying cars. I have, but to get back on focus I just paid off my last $40k of debt in less than 12 months. No, i didn't win any lottery nor any big bonuses. Meanwhile, I put quite a bit in retirement (and a whole lot into my pet's health :().

Please enlighten us with your badass rides, this is garage.

So I did have the old bolts (hex, new ones are torx), but my VANOS was redone 2 years/25K ago under warranty. The bolts were tight, no wear or anything.

It makes sense to do it when you're getting the valves adjusted, since they'll have it all apart.

Any of you M3 guys wishing to move on to something else? If so what?

I may get refocused on a two seater with a ton of cargo room as well. While I figured having the space for four beneficial, I have only had to carry 4 people in the last 8 months once. If I have a need, it's as easy as renting an car for the day.

Looked at 2008 Z06 yesterday...those things can probably carry 20 8' 2x4's in them :)

I have an E90 330i and an E46 M3. The last few days I've been driving the E90 and it is in many ways just a much nicer car to get around in. Obviously the ride, amenities and conveniences are better, but I also like the steering feel better on my E90 than my M3. I may end up trading both cars in for an E90 M3 at some point, but I am also willing to wait and see what the F30 is like.

No 350Z? I drove one of those a couple times and was fairly impressed with it. The new 370Z is supposed to be even better.

This is very close to my train of thought...although I don't have an E90, but a B8 A4 instead. I love driving my M3...but if I just want to get around, the A4 is much more "convenient". It drives smoothly, has great amenities, gets great gas mileage, and just feels nicer inside. In no way does it have the visceral feel of the M3 and nothing beats the throttle response of the M3...but there are days where it just isn't as "nice". I'm definitely going to see what the F30 brings to the table. If I don't transfer to Europe in the next couple years (something they keep threatening at my company), I could see getting a E9X M3, an 1M Coupe, or an F30 in a couple years.

Alky I still think the CLK is the perfect car for you. It really fits your style and image, and it has the power and comfort you and your pups require. 2 doors, 4 seats, revs kinda high and kinda low, and has smg but doesn't have it too. It's also a much better dd than an m3.

No, too old and also is slower than I am looking for.

I'd get the C63 AMG if I was looking for that type of car.

It's a tough call. The M3 does a lot of things well, some even very well, and it's a very practical car. The boot is huge, sits 4 in comfortably, even 5 at a squeeze. It's comfy to ride, no complaints about the stiff suspension etc. I don't know how an A4 etc is easier to live with but I guess I just don't care at all for the 'ride'. I like a firm ride. It hits pot holes etc like a champ. If I wanted something super soft I'd get a barge or a Merc or something like that.

Next upgrade will be a huge upgrade. Just waiting for the right one, spec and until it gets a tad cheaper.

It'll be a 2 seater and have 400+ bhp and is a real sports car. To me the M3 isn't a real sports car. It isn't raw enough a driving experience. The steering suffers way too much coldness and not tactile enough for me. Maybe if I get a manual it would be better? I'll try a CSL to see how that feels compared to the M3.

Again I rarely carry 4. The rear seats are in pristine condition!
