E4500 tempurature issues

I recently purchased an E4500 CPU. I installed a Thermalright xp120 heatsink that worked great with my old Opty 175. I'm getting unusual results in terms of tempurature.

Ambient: 20c
Idle: 30c
Loaded 2x Prime95: 60-65+
Intel TAT: 65-70c+

The jump is way too high compared to what I've been reading on the forums. In addition to that, I notice the very moment I run any sort of heavy CPU testing, it jumps by 20c. It's goes from 30c to 50c a second after I click go. It might be normal though.

I have a feeling the heatsink isn't install properly or is slight uneven but don't want to waste time redoing it all and possibly making it worse. Any advise would be great apprecited.

My guess is that your Idle temperature is incorrect, and 15c has to be added. Somehow when you load up something CPU intensive, the 15c bug dissapears? So that means your CPU is idling at 45c, which is rather high for a thermalright xp120. So yeah, I'd say it's unproperly seated and reseating might solve your problem. That's by far the easiest option to explore.

With the intel stock cooler my E6750 was idle about 20 on 3.2GHz and load on 70 so yes this is possible. And the temps raise insane as soon as it is stressed. Then again; intels mounting system sucks compared to AMD (socket 939 for both of us since I came from a opteron 170). You might want to try to get a setup with screws and bolts.

Dude your frigging dreaming when you think your e6750 @ 3.2ghz idles at 20c. Even a thermalright 120 ultra extreme can't achieve those temps with ambient temps of around 20c.

puti, the E4500 has 2 different Steppings (L2 and M0) which have 2 different thermal specifications. Check out the Core 2 Quad and Duo Temperature Guide: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2128426&enterthread=y

The temperature Scales for both Stepping variants are shown in Section 6, but regardless of which Stepping you have, 65c Core temperature deos not exceed Safe Scale. Also, there's a format in the Introduction that you can use to list your rig's Results and Variables, which is shown again in Section 10.

If you're overclocked and your Vcore is higher than ~1.325, then it's typical for Idle to Load Delta to exceed normal spec which is 25c. Assuming that your temperatures are accurate, you have no cause for concern, however, if you'd like to know whether or not your temps are accurate, then use Section 9 to perform the Calibration procedure.

Just one question,
What was your ambient temperature/ room temp when you made your movies? 17 c = 62.5 f
If it were below 55f in the room your temps are good. If not coretemp is not reading properly. Sorry to burst your bubble but CPU cannot equal ambient temps unless the machine is off. Air cooling makes no difference in this, the nanosecond power reaches the CPU it will rise above room temp.
Marc is right, without some form of external cooling, the laws of physics proves this. Moving air faster does not lower the temp, If your room temp was 65 the best CPU temp I would believe is + 5 f or 21.1 c. 17 deg celius is highly unlikely.
I have used chillers, idle temps as low as 12 c before I called it quits, condensation on the blocks is not a good thing!

Like I said, keep on dreaming :)

Unless of course you have ambient temps of 10-15c.

Actually; No my room temprature is for sure above 15, but that is because my sisters can't live without 20c (I hate it). So what I do is opening the window with curtains covering me from the wind. The pc is next to the very small opening thats left, maybe that causes it? Inside the case it is a lot cooler then outside too. My Papst 4650N fan which is on this side of the PC is my intake (About 160 m3/h). I guess that drains in all the air then.

Edit: I closed the Window and the temperatures raised to 25-26 (5% load/3.6GHz). Is this possible then? The heatsink is very cool (sticked a 4650N fan on that aswell), when i disable that fan the heatsink starts to get hot and the temperatures go to about 30-32 idle then as well.

These fans: http://www.papst.de/index/sid/...4A99-9C22-553CFAB054D4
(1 intake, 1 on the cpu, 1 outtake)

Vipeax I assume you say 20C idle you mean it's on power saving, so what speed it's running at when idle?
