E4400 and P5N-E SLI

I have a E4400 and P5N-E SLI with 2x1Gb 800 Transcend Axeram. I can get it to 3.0Ghz easy but no higher, even going up on the voltage to the proc at 1.5V. Anyone else have this setup. I used to run the same proc in a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 with the same memory at 3.4Ghz. Is the P965 chip just a better OC chip than the 650i?
