hey guys, sorry this is my first post on here, but i've been following the science of this forum for many years now.. i feel its one of the best spots for pc knowledge around. many thanks and cheers....
here is my dilema:
i have pc 2700 ram DDR @ 333mhz. 2pcs 512mb each. I just bought an asrock 775 dual-vsta for this and many other reasons. The anandtech article on this motherboard states that it is capable of running DDR 266 on the system while still using an e6300 at the 1066mhz FSB - presumably using a mem divider.
1. Will i be okay or successful at running this mobo/cpu with my DDR?
and
2. will i be able to raise the FSB to approx 300mhz for an overclock?
im hoping for approx 296mhz on the FSB for the asrock and keeping the 9x multiplier on my e4300 while still using my DDR ram.
this may be a pipe dream, but to go to ~2650mhz (290x9) when coming from my athlon xp 2000 while only spending 161$ (cpu) + 55$ (mobo) will be a nice & inexpensive treat.
Thank you,
jared
