e4300 62 degrees at 2.7ghz???

Hi, I'm new to overclocking and think I might be doing soemthing wrong with this chip.

My setup:

Core 2 Duo E4300 with stock HSF,
Abit AB9 Pro
OCZ 2x1Gb Platinum XTC
Asus ATI X1600 Pro 512Mb
Hiper Type R 530W

I'm only seeming to get to 2,7ghz with this chip when I hit 62 degrees. The voltage reported by uGuru claims that the VCore is getting up as high as 1.37v at this temperature fully loaded.

Should I be looking to limit this in the bios with a set voltage to keep the temperature down, provided it still boots?

I'm looking to get a Noctua NH-U12 cooler if it fits into my case. I have a Thermaltake Tsunami with a side panel fan, does anyone know if a 150mm heatsink will fit into this case before I go and spend ~£35 on one?

If you're on stock cooling those temperatures are about right. I get up to about 62-64C with the comp in my sig, and that's with decent airflow.

About the Noctua, get out a ruler and measure. That's what I did for my Thermalright U-120 to see if it fit.

Ok,

I got my hands on a Tuniq Tower 120 and have that fitted.

My temperatures are much more under control now but i still cannot get a stable overclock past 2.7ghz, or 9.0x300mhz.

Does anyone know if there is a particular bios I should be using on my board or what steps I should be using to try to get a stable overclock over 9x300 at 1.375 vcore?

Mine runs at about 60-62 Celsius with a Scythe Ninja @3.3GHz full Orthos load.

Ok, I've had no further joy with my overclocking.

It looks like the AB9 Pro is no where near as good at overclocking as has been claimed, or Abit have broken it in their BIOS updates.

Even with DDR2-800 Ram I cannot get the FSB to go above 305mhz on a 1:1 ratio and a 6x multiplier, which is only running the CPU at 1830mhz, which I know I have already managed to surpass with lower FSBs and higher multipliers.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh and am doing something wrong. I should be satisfied with a 900mhz overclock, but I know the CPU has more to give and that my motherboard is letting me down.

Anyone have an AB9 Pro and know which BIOS revision gets the best results or what I might be doing wrong?
