So given a retail E2140, E2160, E4300, E4400 and E4500 with stock HSF, how far can you overclock safely and stablely?

Anyone getting to 3.0 - 3.3GHz with the stock cooler?

I'm aware of numerous aftermarket coolers that are cheap after rebate, all I've seen require a street mailing address which I do NOT have.

Thanks

I'd limit the speed to 3.0GHz or 25C below the Tjunction temperature. NewEgg will usually have the Big Typhoon open box on sale for $18 plus $6 shipping.

On stock HSF and stock volts you should hit 3.0GHZ no problem. Temps should be around 60-70 celcius during dual prime. One thing to note though is the stock HSF mounting mechanism sucks, for example, I would be getting like 90 degrees celcius with the stock mounting mechanism but the temperatures would drop to like 60 if I push down on the HSF to increase pressure. So I just took a nut and bolt 6-32 with a few washers and bolted it down to the motherboard instead of using the plastic clips. Temps were down to 60 after that.

I am at 3.0 hitting 70c. The stock cooler does suck, its has am aluminum core. Even a stock 6 series or Q2D would be an upgrade.

Thanks all,

Think I've found the solution. Turns out my budget HP Compaq SR5010nx has this Asus Cooler on it. I did a little Googling and found a stock Intel cooler, very different. I'll just swap the two coolers.

The Asus has some nice reviews over at the Egg.

I'd stick with that Asus cooler over the stock intel cooler. The Asus cooler has a way better mounting mechanism which "bolts" down into the motherboard with a backplate. You'l get much more pressure with that Asus cooler. Infact, it's about the same size as the stock intel cooler but better pressure mounting.
