I am thinking about a cheap upgrade now that my pc is having some trouble with the newest games like UT3 and some older ones to like BF2142 on large servers with 50+ people. How much faster would the E2180 be than my current Athlon 64 Venice ocd to 2.6ghz. Ideally I want to be able to play games at my lcds native res which is 1680x1050 but I am okay with 1280X960 as well because I realize I'll need a much faster video card for the higher res. I am thinking about getting the mobo that works with agp cards and ddr400 ram and see how that goes with my current vid card, then if it's still too slow get a better vid card to. What do you think? Thanks.

You definitely need a dual-core processor, for new games, especially multiplayer games. And you're right about needing a faster video card for 1680x1050, unless you don't mind lowering your video settings. Have you considered just dropping in a cheap Skt. 939 dual-core, and overclocking it to 2.5-2.8 Ghz: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...707439&name=Socket+939

You've got a nice system (for an AGP system), except for the fact that your cpu isn't dual-core. Of course, an overclocked E2180 would be a bit faster, but it would also cost you considerably more. I can tell you this, though. Either processor (once overclocked) will make your system video card-limited, instead of cpu-limited, although for 50 player games, it would still help considerably.
