E2140 overclocking troubles.

Hi ! I want to overclock e2140 but i cant move fsb over 230, when i put fsb 230 or higher, pc didn't boot! WHY ? Pci-e clock fixed at 100, Voltage is +0.05. MEMORY FREQUENCY 667, i tried on 533 and 400 too, it didn't boot TOO. ANY SOULTIONS ??

MY PC SPECS :
GPU 6800 GS
CPU e2140
PSU 450 W deluxe
MOBO BIOSTAR 945GC 775 micro.


PS : Why u deleted my last thread ? I didn't posted 2 same problems or something like, it's just about CPU.

Really no1 can find the reason ? I searched on atleast 5 forums :(

I bolded my #1 suspect. The 945GC chipset only supports an 800Mhz Quad-pumped FSB (translation : 200Mhz max) and the supporting power delivery circuitry simply wont tolerate higher frequencies. Be happy you got all the way to 230 with that chipset, it isn't supposed to.

I wish I had been as blunt as Bunit1701. I had the same thoughts. But what would I know precisely? I might have avoided using Biostar for as long as I remember. And also as I'd said: we here in my household had OC'd two of those processors (E2140 and E2180) with the very same motherboard (Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2 mATX) which we bought new in retail box for about $90 each.

So you have a couple choices. Just "Build a computer" with the parts you have and don't bother over-clocking the E2140, or find a better motherboard for the E2140. In that regard, it's your money and your choice. If I were going to build a machine from scratch, I'd pick a recent-generation processor, motherboard and other parts. That also might be more than you want to spend.
