E207WFP Hooked up with my PS3 Looks like crap

I just got this monitor with my dell this week and i ended up picking up a DVI to HDMI at monoprice. I got the cable today and hooked it up and some games like COD4 and Ratchet And Clank Look like crap. They look distorted. On the other hand Warhawk and Resistance look fine. Whats up with this? BTW The monitor is a 16:10 I think.
 
Set your monitor to 1:1 scaling so it doesn't attempt to stretch or distort an image. Then once you play a game, if it plays in a smaller window you know that the game resolution is actually not what your monitor is expecting and can either live with it or try and reconfigure it.

Some monitors don't have 1:1 scaling by themselves. I'm not sure if this is the case or not.

Regardless, his monitor should not look like crap. I have mine hooked up to a $150 19" widescreen LCD monitor and it looks fantastic. I can even do 1080p on it (though it's downscaled). Perhaps this monitor just doesn't work well for the PS3? I'm not aware of any good 1:1 scaling monitors he might want to look at. Any ideas?
 
No worries fellas, Ended up just hooking it up back to my plasma. I probably wont play as much since my family hogs the tv 🙁

Considering the way we baby our prisoners in this day and age, I'm sure your local prison will have flat panels with about 4 PS3's networked so the inmates can get some nightly Warhawk LAN matches going. Unfortunately, you gotta make your own shiv like always for when that slimy bastard 2 tv's down uses the tank glitch 🙁.

I don't really know. However, it causes the Warhawk fanboys in the playstation.com forums to become very, very pissy.

That doesn't make sense...he said some games look great, and some don't, even if they all run in 720p or higher.
 
i'm sure you've already done this but have you checked all the boxes for different resolutions in your display setting for ps3? when i was setting up the ps3 for the first time last week, i only checked 1080i not realizing that i had to check all the other ones too. ended where uncharted demo played at 1080 but all the other demos were playing at 480 (with stretching). i was thinking that something looked terribly out of place. had me fumbling through the menu for about 30 minutes before i figured it out.
