E1705 X1400 VS Geforce Go7900 GS

I wanted to get the Geforce until I read anandtechs review and compairson. Im not much of a PC gamer other then CS I play most of my games on my 360.

I want to mainly use the E1705 as my media center and traveling laptop for movies and work.

But The performance from the X1400 to Geforce 7900 is INSANE.

from the review it seems the x1400 will give me almost TWICE! as much life 146 minutes vs 275 minutes. Thate is huge.

Is there anyway to make the geforce use less power until you call on it for full juice?

I got the E1705 with the upgraded battery and the geforce..

I get 2 hours ... 🙁

I have tried everything and the best I get is around 2 hours 35 minutes.

Sucks. If I had known I would not have gotten the geforce. I dont play games... I just wanted it for the wow factor.

You can underclock the GPU, but honestly NVIDIA's probly doing a good enough job with it that you won't make a big difference.

It's that low even with the 7900GS? The GPU is suppose to be pretty power efficient, ppl have been throwing around the TDP of 20W for it (not sure I ever saw a source though) compared to the 30-60W TDP of the go7800, 7800GTX and 7900GTX.

Anandtech didn't test the 7900GS, if it's really as low power as ppl say than battery life should be better.
