The cheapest I can find for a 6800GT with 256mb is around $360. So is it worth it to spend the extra $40 to get the evga 6800 gt?

depends. most 6800gt's will clock to ultra speeds should you desire, no guarantee tho. i run the 6800gt at stock because it handles anything out there.
i wish this was pci-e as i'm changing over in the next couple weeks.

That's true. Most 6800GT overclock very well, often reaching ULTRA levels or above. I run my GT @ ULTRA speeds just because it can handle it and is fully stable at those speeds :D One of the advantages of the ULTRA though is dual DVI whereas most GT come with only one DVI output. So if you do need dual DVI I think it's worth extra $40.

it "could", but so "could" a gt, although that would be far more rare. ANY oc is not guaranteed nor should it be implied. you might get an ultra that can't run above stock without artifacting, same as a gt, an xt-pe or any other card.
