E-Tax filing > *

I just did my taxes electronically for the first time (for free with QuickTaxWeb) and I am very happy.

It took me 30 minutes, and I am getting a $219.59 refund 🙂

How should I store the electronic files on my system? Should I use NTFS encryption on them (I've never used it before as I've never had anything I felt I should protect)

Took me 15 minutes on the phone for both state and federal. Had my refund automatically deposited 4 days later.

Some online packages will provide you with a method of dumping the raw datafile to your system. Note that this is raw data.

If you needed to extract it I do not know if it can be read by the standard packages and/or they will provide you with a method to process the raw file.

I know as of last year, none of the big boys could/would upload datafiles from the previous or current year for use.

I burn my tax info to a disc and then delete it.

After efiling it only took a week and a half to get my cheque 😀 If i had direct deposit i assume it would have been even faster.

I wasn't able to setup direct deposit this year because I've never used it before so they don't have my info yet. Apparently that's another form I gotta mail to them and I wanted to get this done.

I don't know why, but burning 100KB of data to a 50 cent 700 MB CDR still seems wrong 🙂

You spent 50 cent on a CDR? WTF's wrong w/ you?

I meant to type 60 cents. The last pack of CDR's I bought was almost a year ago.

$29.99 CDN / 50 CD's = 60 cents per disc. (.48 USD/disc)

Do you know a better place to buy discs in Canada?

Is the filing setup for Canada different (based on your profile)?

For the US; all you have to do is provide a bank routing number and an account number.

The Feds and State does not even validate the routing and account numbers. As long as the routing has the proper number of digits the government will attempt to direct deposit it.

I wish Michigan had TeleFile. I've used TeleFile for six years for federal taxes.

Only $219.59 tax return? I bet your dad get more return, that's not fair you should ask him to give you some more.
