I have some left over parts and need help deciding on a cpu to build a new rig. The new Intel E series cpus are tempting but so many models its hard to decide. My budget is $50 to $75. The other alternative is to build a AM2 rig (CPU+MB) for about $125 ~ 150. I want to support AMD but still want the best bang for the buck.
Looking to build a mid grade system for general use, internet and light gaming
Parts
intel dg33tl mobo Or trade for AM2 Mobo, 1 gb ddr2 and ati x850 PE
Current systems:
amd 4000 s939 : everday system used for internet / multimedia. Single cores and S939 are on the way out but this rig can hold its own and does OC well. I dont see a reason to unload this one yet.
Maybe a AM2 system to even out the field?????????
intel c2d e6300 : use as a file server. I have not been much impressed with the Core2duo, prefer to use the AMD cuz of higher speed and cant see any boost with a dualie. Dont know if the current E series will be much of an improvement.
intel q6700 rig just built to test vista. its fast and stable with vista
