E-MU 0404 issues - Drivers 'disappear' after reboot

I've looked around on E-MU's KB, but can't find anything about this. I'm running Windows XP SP2, with an E-MU 0404 sound card. Whenever I reboot, I have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, because the sound card 'disappears' and shows up in Device Manager as an 'unknown device.'

Uninstall the sound card drivers, past if any and present. Next reboot, don't install the drivers. Shutdown your computer, uninstall the sound card, boot up your computer, shutdown, install the soundcard, boot up the computer, install drivers, see if that works.
