e-moral dilemma: 3kbps upload for everyone or my friend's pet peeve?

well, my friend is a Bitcomet user and he limits his upload to zero kbps all the time, I disagreed with him but hey, we are good friends and we are not gonna fight for sometihng like this (and there's nothing I can really do right? hack his computer?). Anyway, fast forward to yesterday, he updated his Bitcomet to 0.56, which forbids users to limited upload speed to anything lower than 3kbps. He asked me to look for 0.53 which has no such limitation, in which I have and it's stored in my harddrive, should I send him the 0.53 or just lie and say I don't have it?

The whole point of the Bittorrent network is that you have to have people sharing (while downloading) and seeding afterwards in order for the whole idea to work. If people all acted like your friend then no one would ever be able to share any files to each other and it might as well be server-based downloads like drivers or shareware are. I say you tell your friend that you don't have it, and that he needs to grow up and quit being such a douche bag. At least seed during the night or when you aren't home, I could understand not having the bandwidth to upload if he's gonna play a game and needs the lowest ping possible or something, but any sharing is beneficial ya know?

Just my $.02

 What he said. Leechers suck ass and should be shot.

It's entirely his choice to share or not, don't give him any sort of crap for it. Me, being the ncie guy, would give it to him. It's your choice if you want to lie to a friend over a trivial thing like that (in the overall scheme of things) or not. If it's really NOT that trivial, I pity you.

I agree with GRIFFIN1.

My torrents always seem to cut off at share ratios at .5 though for some reason. Some will keep going forever, but like 80% of my torrents just don't connect me to peers anymore once it reaches that half way mark.

The RIAA & MPAA should encourage weasels like your friend -- they all leech and never share, and eventually the P2P infringery grinds to a halt 😀

(Pictures RIAA coders uploading hacked leech-friendly clients to all the sites)

the RIAA picks up people who re-share..... Comcast + Walking tall .torrent = DCMA for buddy of mine....

Torrent is banned in my apartment, mainly because when you iupload on cable, the download thorottles 4x faster, killing everyone elses conection. Fvck my roomates, im not getting in trouble because they can't pirate intelligently

on a side note... my personal views are:
I support the piracy and stealing of music, music videos, movies and tv shows, but not software. Feeding the RIAA/MPIAA your money keeps MTV/FOXNEWS/MSNBC/FearFactor/RealWorld/Simple Life alive. 95% of the problems our youth deal with today are all side effects of media brainwashing and reckless profiteering on behalf of the american media industry and the lack of intelligent parental intervention because they too are brainwashed. bling bling ryde or dye check out my spinnahz and h0es :disgust:

Burn it to the ground.

Private torrents are the way to go but hard to find. Leechers blow big fat billy goats. Find an old computer with a little 10gb hard drive. put a network card in and use it mainly for torrents.

Routers are good with sharing bandwidth and my net has never slowed down for it. set your torrent client to maybe 1:1.5% ratio or at least 1:1.

Hopefully your isp doesnt have a gay badnwidth cap.

Oh yeh by the way... fighting about torrents? how geekish is that.

I upload what i can but i dont dare leave torrents up when im not there since my college net has upload limits
