E-Machines E-One Owners Must Read !!

To those that have the E-Machines IMac Knock-Off,
I took apart my Mother-in-laws E-One this past weekend and found out that
CONTRARY to what the salesmen and E-Machines state, the E-One CAN be
upgraded. I took the machine apart to find out whether or not it could or
could not and this is what I've found,
1) The E-One is a machine built with a KDS CRT, laptop motherboard,
standard IDE hard drive, laptop speakers, laptop floppy, and laptop CD rom.
2) The hard drive CAN be upgraded
3) The Memory CAN be upgraded (I installed a 128MB stick for a total of
192MB but I don't know if it can take a 256MB stick)
4) The processor CAN be upgraded (to what I haven't figured out yet)
5) The CRT is the cheesiest work-around that I've ever seen. All they did
was take a CRT and stick it on a notebook computer. They even used a
standard monitor cable to go from the laptop's VGA connector to the back of
the monitors circuit board. It's like 4" long. Its pretty comical.

The only thing that I didn't like about this machine at the time was the
64MB of RAM but as stated above it is pretty easy to upgrade if you are
careful in what you do. It isn't the easiest machine to take apart.

If you need more details then let me know and I should be able to help you
out.

I just picked up an Emachines Celery 366 refurb for $125 and I think to myself at times that I might've spent $125 too much on it. 😉

Man, you should be posting pictures! It ain't every day that we get to see the insides of that thing!

BTW, what are the specs of the machine?

Listen numbnuts (just kidding),
I just posted it for people out there to realize that they CAN get some more out of their aging systems if they want to. Most people with this machine think they CAN'T and I'm just letting them know that they CAN get some more out of it.

If you take a pile of poo, and give it $1, it is still a pile of poo.

thats actually not a bad deal. where did you find that deal at?

Sorry if I offended you. I was either going to say that or : Most people here don't have an emachine, and if they did they probably wouldn't bother upgrading it. I just thought my first post was funnier.
