EDIT: W00t, the feds accepted my tax return. Hello refund in 10-16 days!!! 😀.

EDIT: w00t, got my fed refund in my bank account . Now it's time to pay off some credit card debt I've accumulated 🙁.

How much was it?

I went to e-file today and it mentioned a 'free file' option, but the page won't be up until January 18.

Cost me 13.95. The federal was free, but the cost is in the state return.

You can e-file for free if your AGI (Ajusted Gross Income) is below $50,000 at many places (see the IRS.GOV site for details starting on the 18th). Some states also have free e-file...YMMV.

I've used TurboTax.com for 3 years. It's so easy because it retains last years info and basically fills in about 50% of the form for me, but this year, it's $35.00 to file federal and state. I may look at TaxAct since it's around $12.95 for state and federal, even if I have to enter all of the information again.

<---goes looking for a turbotax.com coupon! 😛 (Found 15% off...looking for better)! 🙂

What state are you doing? E-filing with TurboTax is $14.95 per file (state/federal) and $29.95 for both.. not $35.

Uh...

from TurboTax.com website...

$9.95 Federal | $24.95 State (optional)
Checklist for Essentials

$34.90 for both. Am I missing something?

Edit: Are you talking about the standard PC TurboTax software purchased in store? I was referring to TurboTax.com which I already have information stored there.

the acceptance only means that it met its electronic filing requirements. It does not mean that they agree with your filing.

Congrats on giving the government an interest free loan while savings rates were at 4% this whole year!

I've learned my lesson for this year. 2 claimed dependents for Fed, 1 for state 😛.
