I just got a Eureka yesterday, but like most ideas, they've already been thought of but I'm just not aware. Does such a thing hardware/software exist?

So I was thinking about my old school Amazon Kindle and how I thought it was great that it could give you the definition of a word if you highlighted a selected word.

Next I thought how neat it would be to have that software connected to a translator/speaker for peeps who are learning a new language. So for example if you were learning English as an ESL student, you could be reading some e-book and if you came across a word you didn't know you could click on it and it would give you the definition in your native language and the software would be able to say the word in English. I think this would definitely speed up learning as opposed to other methods.

This would work great with any e-reader or more-so for the iPad. So does this idea of mine already exist someplace? I'm sure it does.

After searching some more, some people have released a few other dictionaries but I guess they work best for Spanish, French, and German. Any support for Asian or Arabic languages would probably be profitable. But yeah the "speaking" part would be the icing on the cake. So I guess the answer is that some developers might be working on it but it would be a tad more difficult (more work and maybe actual recording) to get the audio portion to work well.
