I bought soms DVDs for my kids the other day (Disney stuff) off E-bay - from a seller in Canada. The prices were right ($10-$15). When I got them, they came in an envelope with Hong Kong postage. The DVDs themselves were silver, with none of the typical Disney painting on them and the boxes/covers were not of the typical Disney quality. In fact, you had to look real hard to even find the work "Disney" anywhere on them.

They seem to play just fine & the Chinese subtitles are of the highest quality ;)

I am not going to turn this guy in or anything, BUT...Is this legal?

The menus seem to work OK. Luckily, my kids aren't old enough to ask questions about the legitimacy of these.

This guy is moving a lot of product on E-bay. He had over 2,000 feedback responses.

Somehow, I feel ripped.

[moral]E-bay is a great place to sell, but a sh!tty place to buy[/moral]

Do those dvds have ISRC# on them? They are usually on the back under the UPC. If the #s are present then they are definitely legal!

Hehe. Somehow I'm doubting the legitimacy of those.... But it sounds cool. Mind telling me the seller's name? ;)

Actually, if DVDR's were a little cheaper (they still cost about $30.00 each), I have a DVD mastering suite at work that can copy DVD's. Hehe. Basically just like burning a CD copy with Nero. Cool when DVDR's are cheap.

Dawg, that's pretty sweet. So you can make perfect copies of DVD movies? I wonder if it would work with PS2 games.....

Thoes are copied DVDs ya got there.

At CES they unveiled a DVD writer component machine.
Capable of copying any DVDs and playing them in any player.
Kinda nice, but break all types of copyrights.
But frankly, I dont care ;)

beleive it or not these pirates don't use dvdr's .. they actually press the suckers... very sophisticated, so mostly they are bit for bit copies of the originals. I've seen a crouching tiger hidden dragon dvd already:)
