It's up to you, but an initial search for them turned up no reviews. Might be cheap but you're better off spending a little extra to go with a reputable brand name such as TDK (mid-range prices) or Plextor (high-end prices but worth it imho). Personally I never like feeling like a guinea pig when it comes to hardware.

btw Welcome to the forums...

I used to work at Best Buy and have found that most of the Dynex stuff that we had sold was not that bad. It's simply a Best Buy company. Anyway, I had purchased a Dynex NIC and the main problem was when I was reinstalling the drivers and didn't have a CD/disk, it was tough to find drivers online. Otherwise the thing worked fine.

I don't exactly go for brand names on CD drives. They are usually all the same, just under a different brand.

Take Nike for example. A shoe they make would be around $50. A shoe made by another company that is similar would only be like $30.

Hey wardog and strentest,
. Welcome to the AT Forums.

Why bother with that when you can get this excellent Asus burner retail kit for $31.50 shipping included from Newegg. You can get LG (Goldstar) or Samsung burners for even less shipping included. All three of these are decent drives.
. According to the guy above (who should know) Dynex is just BB's in-house packager (like MadDog for CrapUSA, Rosewill for Newegg, etc.) - the drive in the box will be whatever they could get the cheapest that week.
. Personally, I would rather know what I'm getting instead of taking a pig-in-a-poke... And Newegg accepts PayPal now, so you don't even need a credit card (just either a savings or checking acct) to buy from them.
