These aint so bad if you dont mind an ugly bezel. BB also sells an Insignia 42 1080P thats 100 bucks more that seemed like a better set. Good deal though.

I realize that it's not a top of the line , or "mainstream brand name"; but isn't this a friggin steal? Especially if you can get another 10% off?

Good deal until it breaks in a year and you cant get any service for it regardless of your warranty.

Also, would be embarrassing to have a "dynex" tv in a room where guests may actually watch it.

edit

after reading reviews i may buy it

The AVS forum guys love it.

yup, i have this TV and checked AVS before pulling the trigger. We love it! I got it for $700 +tax at the best buy B&M about a month ago, i wonder if I can bring it back and get the difference credited w/ a price guarantee?

Ditto, checked AVS, they raved and I went to BestBuy (whom I hate but they had a good price on this at the time - $700). I got to se this TV next to dozens of other LCD and plasmas and I was shocked how nice it was compared to the others. My biggest complaint is that the bezel is ugly as hell but for my bedroom, it's fine. The picture is very good. Crisp, clear edges, bright, good color and contrasts with a little calibration. It's not a Kuro but its not a Kuro price tag either. This TV was much better then I expect for the price and even stood up in side by side comparisons to big brand models like Sony and LG that were 20-50% more expensive. The inputs work very well, no problems with remote codes on universal remotes. Overall I am very happy with this TV. It's a good buy at under $800 but at $600... it's a HOT DEAL.

BTW to add: When I first plugged this in to my Comcast HD box I was really dissapointed. I later learned its my comcast box and their crappy HD signal and not the TV. DVD and especially Bluray look AMAZING. It also works really well as a 2nd monitor from my computer (Radeon 4850 via HDMI).

Is there a 10% off coupon for November?

All the ones I've found online expired during the summer...

Really leaning toward snagging one of these babies for my parents.

Dont they also still price match? Like back less then a month ago these were $699, so they should be able to still price match this back to this prce, no?

Yeah, service is a concern, but I guess at this price it's sort of disposable...

If you purchase the extended warranty on this, wouldn't that take care of any service issues in the future?

600 for a generic of questionable quality is well a lot to pay for a generic.

Remind me to never listen to you again. Another reason I wish we had an ignore feature.

Anyway, definitely interested. If I can pull enough cash together i'll go pick one up. Thanks op.

So whats the overall opinion on getting this? I am looking for my first LCD, this price combined with the size and 1080P has me a little cautious. After reading some of the reviews a lot of people seem to get hung up on the aesthetics. Is this really a problem with tv's? My old tube tv isn't the most attractive TV so I don't know if this would be a problem for me.

I am going to use this TV as a monitor/TV mainly just watching movies playing Wii and my 360 on it.

What do you guys think? Wait for a deal on something better or get this now?

I would get this not if it weren't for my 2 year old that likes to draw and hit the screen when theres something she likes on it.

My 5 and 3 YOs know better than to touch the tv or my 24" monitor. I have had to wipe off crayons from my 'wife's' 19" cheap dell monitor.

S Freud: I have convinced myself that I 'need' a 46" or this would be a pretty good deal. The 360 will look great but the Wii won't look nearly as sharp. SD content on a lcd, however, usually looks like shit. I make major electronic purchases with my AMEX (or other major CC) and thereby get a free 1 year extended warranty. This has saved me a few thousand dollars over the years.

Thanks RKS and Holden. I think I'm just going to wait for something more reliable to come down in price.
