I keep my router up-to-date with the latest firmwares. It's one of the newer hardware revisions, but not the newest (I'll find out the exact HW rev. when I get home). I have my DynDNS.org username and password properly configured with the router's built-in DynDNS.org support. For some reason, I get email messages from DynDNS.org about my hostname pending expiration...so I check the configuration page on my router and it says "Updated Successfully". I refresh the page just to be sure.

My hostname still expires! Why can't my Linksys router keep it active? I've been through 10+ expiration cycles...now I'm frustrated to the point that I'm determined to find out the problem.

I assume that this is Linksys' fault...?

According to a note on DynDNS, Linksys / Cisco elected to NOT follow the recommended structure for DynDNS, and because of that, is not compatible with the DynDNS system.

You have to you a software client on an internal PC.

Good Luck

Not sure which firmware you're running (Linksys or alternative), but I'm running a WRT54G 2.0 with Sveasoft Alchemy 6rc6 and I've had no problems with my dynDNS.org account...
