dying...

I think my CD-RW is dying. Recently it's speeds have been way down. The same CD-Rs that I used to burn at 4x can only be burned at 2x now. CD-RWs won't erase correctly. These problems arised after I installed and uninstalled Adaptec (Roxio) 5.

Any solutions?

I have a SONY Vaio PCVL-640, so a new drive (unless it's external, or compatible with my computer) isn't really a valid solution.

might just need to clean the CDRW drive.

Also, CDRW's will eventually become unusable. I usually get about 6 months out of mine before having to toss them.

Good Luck!

I would blame that devil of a program called Easy cd creator. It's caused problems for me in the past, especially if remove it. Reformat or create a new partition and install fresh windwos...see if that fixes it.

isn't it odd how it always comes down to a format and reinstall 😉 heh heh heh

"Help! Winamp wont work!" "Help my computer wont boot" "Whoa, where did that wallpaper come from?"

Format 'em all! (not that in this case it is a bad idea...)
