Dying fan on Asus V7700 Deluxe....plug into motherboard fan slot ok???

Hey guys. My friend has a dying fan on his Asus V7700 Deluxe. It's making an incredible whining noise and is terribly loud. He's going to replace it with the ThermalTake Blue Orb and some Arctic Silver. Now, the connector for the fan is MUCH smaller on the video card than the BlueOrb has. Is it ok if he plugs the Orb onto his motherboard fan socket instead of on the video card? It's still a 3 pin connector on the video card, but it's very very small.

I'm just wondering if this will be ok and if the videocard will have any problems or if it will make the PC speaker beep.

Thanks,

I am just making sure because I don't know if the HSF detection on the card was going to let it work or not. See, I was thinking that it could act like some motherboards; if there is no fan plugged into the CPU fan header, the board won't boot. I'm just making sure before I go ahead and do it.

Thanks for the reply though. 🙂
