1" Sony sensor, 20.2 megapixels, 32mm equivalent lens, f/1.8, plus 1080p video. Jacks into your iOS device via a Lightning cable, which is way faster than Wifi. $599 & ships in September. Pricey, but reasonable for what you're getting. I'm very interested, although I'm due for an iPhone upgrade soon, so I'm going to see what the iPhone 6 S Plus Two New whatever brings to the table...

It's a neat gadget and its small size is certainly an big advantage, but $599 will buy you a proper entry level DSLR that will be much better.

Much better...but with different features. This lets you jack into your iPhone to do a variety of edits (resize, crop, color grade, etc.) & release (email, social media, etc.). I'm waiting to see what the next iPhone holds as far as the camera goes, but I'm very interested...looks awesome for what it is!

So I've been toying around recently with buying a Sony QX100...

This looks really promising. It's smaller and easier to handle than one of the Sony cameras and the direct connection will definitely make it easier to use than something that connects WiFi.

But...

No optical zoom. Understandable given the small package thought.
Doesn't work stand-alone. With the Sony camera I could at least turn it on and snap pics to the SD card without a viewfinder.
No way to mount to a tripod.
Almost any case is going to break this thing. Only if you have a case with the bottom open like the Apple leather case will it actually work, I think.

Speaking of cases, I would have preferred to see this in a case format. I feel like they could have designed something that would have simply acted as a case for the phone and still connected via the lightning connector. That would have given an opportunity to put in a bigger battery for more power, a better grip for taking steadier pictures and a mounting point for a tripod.

I guess what I really want is a Lumia 1020 that runs iOS.

Like you Kaido, I'm waiting to see what happens with the iPhone 6S. I'm just not very optimistic given that Apple has used almost the same camera module for four years. Apple no longer hold the picture quality crown that it used to, though it's still quite good as far as these phone cameras go. But I have been tempted by other devices, like the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom. If Apple doesn't do SOMETHING with cameras this year then I'll likely take a bigger bet on Windows Phone 10 this year.
