Have any of you come across an erroor like below in Windows XP:
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)
The card in guestion is a TI500. DXDiag passes the DX7 cube test fine, only DX8 doesn't work thus no games will run who use it.
What won't fix it:
- Uninstalling Nvidia drivers
- Installing Nvidia drivers
- Reinstalling DirectX (8.1 already).
What will fix it:
- A new installation of Windows XP
Any other quicker fix for this? It's happened twice now.
