hopefully the crappy performance in that demo they were showing isnt indicative of how all DX10 performance is going to be like on the first gen DX10 cards :(

Well Hellgate London still is a ways out from release so, I'm thinking this is still very early footage and no where near final optimization.

Looks pretty good, although I wasnt thuroughly impressed.

The first person footage towards the end looked way better than that 3rd person crap.

they still cant get player movement right. people always glide they dont actually take the necessary steps to accomplsih a rotation for example.

I agree. I hope more is coming than this.

I read about this game a while back, and IIRC the views will be different for different character classes. I think for the caster types with area of effect spells third person works well because you will want to kite enemies onto your AOE range, whereas first person is the best for gunner types. Hopefully, you will be able to switch views regardless of character class though.

That's really a physics issue, not a directx (graphics) issue.

They showed the opening scene and I was like WOW this looks amazing!!

Then they showed him playing and I was like..... meh.

You know what I want? I want super high res textures. Thats where we should be at. Thats going to give a more realistic look more than anything at this point.

That performed terribly. As soon as they got over with the normal pre-rendered BS-hype, they showed the choppy in-game environment. I'm guessing there wasn't a single time when the frames were above 30 in third-person view.

Awful character design, too :(

I felt the same way, though I did like the smoke movement. I wonder if a higher resolution video would have helped since I found it quite difficult to see some of the rain features the guy was talking about.

Overall though I was underwhelmed.

It's OK. I was only impressed by the rain. The rest seemed like very minor improvements to what we have currently. It's hard to tell because the video was too blocky.

the FPS were definitely hurting... hopefully they'll get much better optimization.. i also hope that that was running at super high res, that way 1024 or 1280 are playable on lower end rigs
