DX 9 question?

Kk4JC

I have a Gainward GF4 4600 VIVO, and am thinking about installing DX9.
Good idea? Should I install the most current drivers first?

Thx,
Kk

I have the gainward 4400, and DX9 works just fine for me. Not that it allows me to run that damned 4th benchmark in 3dMark03 🙁...

Thats cos GF4s arent DX9 class accellerators.
Currently, the only DX9 cards out are the 9500/9500pro/9700/9700pro.
And in a few weeks time, GF FX range, 9800/9800pro

No.
The "classification" as it were for DX, is dependant on hardware capibilites.
For a card to be DX9 compatible it has to have a certain set of features/capibilites.
A DX9 compatible driver does not make a DX8 card a DX9 ones. All it does is ensure that there is no major compatibilites between the driver and DX.
