10 will have unified shaders wich means better performance. Currently, if a game doesn't require a certain resource, that resource stays idle. DX10 will allow all the resources to be used. IIRC. Maybe someone can expand

What about the G80 which is rumoured to be using separate Vertex and Pixel shaders?

I believe DX10 is about being able to do shading operations in fewer passes increasing speed and allowing more shaders to be used. Theres also something else called geometry shading which is a good thing. Apparently.

Think faster and better looking. Only if you have a DX10 card obviously.

I can't wait for Appopin to see this thread, and for him to make another spaghetti-like post full of rant-flavoured noodles and topped with plenty of emoticon spam.

There shouldn't really be any fuss. Most first cards that support the next gen Direct X features usually suck at them. Even if they are decent at them Direct X won't be going full gear until a year or more after its release.
Oh and it should look even prettier and support unified shader architecture + be more efficient than previous versions of DX.

this has been beaten to death.

No fuss whatsoever . . . we have to wait at least 2 years for full DX10 games.

and let's see the DX10 HW before we speculate about it

the topic is simply premature. . . . and the 'fuss' is caused by anxious and unknowledgeable gamers.

Isn't that what happens when Appopin sees any thread? I swear he got to be an Elite memeber for helping the site make sure all the emoticons are working correctly. His tag should read Elite emoticon checker.

this Forum has really very few emoticons . . . isn't it time for an update?

. . . i am tired of the old ones

at least when i reply about DX10, it is fact-based . . . not wishful thinking and 'fantasy speculation'.

i will be actually buying a new graphics card soon but people recommend that its not a good time to upgrade because DX-10 cards and G80 are still to come ,so you guys think its worth to wait for them ?

upgrade whenever you want to and find a good deal . . . just be aware when the next cards are out . . . x1950xt and the nvidia equivalent will be available in September. . . . sometimes it affects pricing on current cards.

Doesn't matter whether you get a dx9 or dx 10 card cor at least a couple of years.

True, true I don't have a problem with the information you post I just find it funny how often you use the emoticon function. I can scroll down through posts and immediatly find yours. As far as your username I will try harder to burn the correct spelling for Apoppin into my head.

Apoppin is right though on the DX-10 issue. It won't become one for at least another year or two. Just get the best performing card for your purpose and you should be ok even if it is a DX 9 card. Alot of people are saying to stay away from the first batch of DX 10 cards one because of the power requirments are rumored to be very high, and two just because they are a new card on a new DX revision and those never are very good later on down the line.

Well for over a year now have been reading articles about how it will be one step closer to virtual reality and how you will feel even more alive in the game. So since I believed everyone of them, have been saving my money for vista and an exotic gaming machine.

What he said. Also DX10 supports unified shaders.
