Quick system spec: Mobo: Rampage II Extreme, 14GB RAM, i7 950, GTX470, Windows 7 x64.

I've been using this wireless adapter for quite some time now with no issues... It is a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless N Adapter.

Lately, I've been getting very poor reception so the other day I figured i'd try uninstalling the existing drivers and re-installing them.

Now, whenever I try to re-install them, whether I use the Windows Update Atheros drivers and/or D-Link's "stock" drivers I keep getting the same error, which can be seen here:

As you can see, the system is unable to identify the actual card device ID and simply labels it under "Other Devices -- Network Controller" with an error (!) indicator.

As of now, I am using my wired Ethernet connection which works flawlessly, but now I have the eyesore of a cable running thru the foyer of my house into the router office room.

Bascially, each time Win7 x64 attempts to "install the driver" it keeps brining up that error message. I've attempted to re-mount the card itself, and have re-booted several times to no avail.

It's just quite strange as it's worked fine in the past. I'm wondering if it's a hardware defect of some sorts, or perhaps there's something in the BIOS I need to change?

Any assistance would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance, Yours,

the Panz:biggrin:

Make sure that installed only the pure Drivers and Not drivers with D-link managing apps, or and other additional 3rd party "Junk".

Yes, of course... I have only attempted to install the basic drivers from dlink's website, which i believe is latest v1.7... When that did not work, I un-installed them, then attempted to install the Atheros "Windows Update" latest driver to see if that would work, to no avail.

Also it should be noted as well that the little green light isn't illumiated during boot up of the PC nor during idle. The light never comes on, at all, which I think is suspect...

Any suggestions are welcome at this point.

So strange, the adapter was literally JUST working yesterday prior to uninstalling the driver (as I stated in the original post) , which would lead me to believe it is not a hardware issue...
