DVSocket

I'm running Windows XP, and even after I formatted (and installed a few popular programs like Flash, Dreamweaver, etc. (no viruses)), the restart is taking forever, and a program called "DVSocket" always comes up after a while asking me if I want to end the task, suggesting that it is the problem that can't be closed by Windows, so it's delaying the shut down.

I've searched everywhere for this file, and have only found the below:

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=d...c2cd1e$8c8318f0$8ef82ecf@TK2MSFTNGXA04&rnum=1

which also outlines the same problem I'm having.

Any suggestions or information would be great.

Thanks,
chis

seems to have sometghing to do with "Image Acquisition".
when did it start ?
and even after I formatted (and installed a few popular programs like Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.
was windows running ok right after the install ? did you get all the windows updates first , then install your apps ?
it's a good idea to hammer the OS for a bit before installing other stuff to see if your happy (IMHO).
do you use system restore ? try rolling it back to an earlyer install.
it sounds like it's tied to Dreamweaver.
good luck

Windows was fine right after the install, and I did the updates and restoring old programs from backup at about the same time. I installed quite a few programs (Flash and Dreamweaver were just two of the many). Is this why you said it may relate to Dreamweaver or is there another reason? I could try uninstalling it and trying, if you think this would help (not much to lose). Let me know.

Thanks,
chis

sorry . the link i thought i inserted , didn't.
googled
i didn't find anything at MS knowledge base.
it just seemed to be connected to an Image Acquisition type program.
good luck
